Welcome New CHEI Team Members!
The 2018 CHEI Teaching Conference displayed the great growth of CHEI and engagement from schools, teachers and students across China. We never stop striving to enhance CHEI programs and resources so more and more teachers can benefit. In the process of focusing on inspiring teachers, we also identify and recruit exceptional teachers in China who share our passion to enhance hospitality education. We’re excited to announce that we have invited four teachers to join our team on August 1 as CHEI Teaching Consultants.
Let’s take a look at their bios:
Bella Li is assistant dean and lecturer at the International Hospitality Management School, Sanya University. She teaches Human Resource Management in Hospitality Industry and Introduction to Hospitality Industry. Previously, Bella was a visiting scholar at the Hospitality Leadership School under Driehaus College of Business, DePaul University in Chicago. Bella is currently a Ph.D. student in Tourism Management at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. She graduated from Beijing International Studies University (BISU) with a master’s degree in Tourism Management and is also an AHLEI Certified Hospitality Educator. As a CHEI Teaching Consultant, Bella will advise on teaching methodologies and consult with educators at CHEI schools to help them improve classroom teaching performance. She will also help with the development of hybrid courses and flipped classroom teaching with a focus on Project-Based Learning.
Qingdao Hotel Management College
Walter Li is a lecturer at Qingdao Hotel Management College where his courses include Opera Skills, Hotel Service Skills, Hotel Information Technology and Casino Operation. He is also an operational consultant for two local hotels. Walter Li began his hospitality career as a trainee at the Orchard Hotel Singapore in 2005. Walter graduated from Qingdao University with a master's degree in Tourism Management. As a CHEI Teaching Consultant, Walter will share his knowledge of Question-Based Learning to use when teaching students how to operate property management systems. Walter is also passionate about introducing open online or social media resources to help students quickly gain hospitality knowledge.
Dalian University of Finance and Economics
Winnie Wang is an associate professor employed as director of the Hotel Management Department, Dalian University of Finance and Economics. She also oversees Marriott-oriented classes and is a member of the Committee of School and Enterprise Alliance of Tourism Service Industry Liaoning. Winnie earned her MSc degree of International Hospitality Management at the University of Strathclyde, UK. She is now studying for her doctoral degree at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics. Recognized as the National Outstanding Teacher at CHEI’s first student competition in July 2018, Winnie excels at hands-on hospitality knowledge and skills. She will work closely with the CHEI team to enhance various programs, focusing on developing students’ soft skills to prepare them for rewarding careers.
Liaoning Vocational Technical College of Modern Service
Annie Shen is the director of the Hotel Management major at Liaoning Vocational Technical College of Modern Service. She teaches Western Food Service and Management, Hotel English, and Hotel Human Resource Management. Annie is an AHLEI Certified Hospitality Educator. She was one of the first International CHEI Fellows from September 2014 to January 2015 at DePaul University in Chicago. Annie earned a bachelor’s degree in Law from China University of Political Science and Law and a master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from IMI Hotel Management Institute, Switzerland. As a CHEI Teaching Consultant, Annie will help teachers learn more about teaching techniques that support a student-centered interactive classroom.
